Press Release
The music of Bach and going for a hike, the sweet Lazio countryside and the choral “Jesus bleibet meine Freude”, from the Cantata BWV 147 by Johann Sebastian Bach. Practically a new piece by violinist and composer Luca Ciarla, Cantata Walk is the result of a series of overlapping improvisations made with a baroque bow and a violin tuned a semitone below, searching for a different, almost “pastoral” sound. Now available on all major digital stores, distributed by The Orchard / Sony Music, Cantata Walk is also enriched by an unusual use of the voice, increasingly frequent in the violinist’s songs and arrangements.
The video was recorded in Castelnuovo di Farfa (Lazio), in the desecrated church of San Donato, on the occasion of the online concert Ad occhi chiusi, produced last year by Violipiano Music for the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires. “The recording of the video in Castelnuovo di Farfa, all by myself, was an almost mystical experience for me. In the desecrated church of San Donato and then around the town, in the countryside, with the violin, backpacks, cameras, in search of a possible link between Bach, hiking, nature and my spirituality“. These are the violinist’s words, happy to have discovered a place of great charm, surrounded by nature, in perfect symbiosis with the theme of the piece. Thanks to the Municipality of Castelnuovo di Farfa and the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires.
